Country Concrete Products – The History

Country Concrete Products – The History

Bury based Country Supplies was acquired by the CCP Group during the 2nd quarter of 2015. This was the CCP Group’s first tentative step into the Wet Press Concrete field and had the advantage of broadening the product range and take their manufacturing portfolio into the building products field as opposed to just aggregate block and brick.

County Supplies started life in 1972 when Alfred and Joan Roan set up a turf supply business in Radcliffe called Turfmasters which with their two sons they ran very successfully until 1984 when an opportunity arose to purchase a concrete flag making plant in the town arose and the Country Supplies brand was born.

Moving to a new 1.25 acre Eaton Road North site in 2006 the company invested in both machinery and infrastructure tripling their production capacity in the process.

One claim to fame that Turfmasters can boast is that in 1977 following Mike Brearley’s 2nd Ashes Test Lancashire County Cricket Club decided to replace the Test wicket and Turfmasters were selected to remove it (by the way England won by nine wickets and went on to win the series 3 – 0).

Today the company is in the process of reviewing the production facilities at the Bury facility so as to improve its product range and continue to provide wet press product that service projects all over the region and beyond, as we continue to introduce the CCP ethos of superior product and timely supply.

In 2016 the company amalgamated with its Cheshire and Welsh counterparts forming one of the largest independent aggregate block and wet concrete manufacturers in the country –
